Bad Rant (aka - my current state of music)

Over the last 7 years... I have been on a mission to accumulate a mass amount of music in the digital format... Currently I am plugging in around 400 gigs / 35,000 tracks... give or take. Hold your applause... Most of this swill is crap that I rarely que up more than once. But it is legit.. .and its mine... well... maybe not to legit. Anyways... I have it. Why? Bottom line... I just want to be able to listen to what I want.. When I want. I never realized how much this has changed the way that I listen to music till today at 7:35am. I read an article on Pitchfork about the reunion of Public Image Limited... thought to myself... wow... Have not hit that for years... And went to the iTunes search bar and typed it in. Zero found. What??? I did not have it. I have to have it. I must. Search again. Zero. I tried PIL. I even tried P I L. Nope. Lame. I felt so inadequate.... Kind of Lonely. Depressed. I was yearning to listen to that track. Ya know.. That one... I think it is called "Rise" ... off of the 2 or 3 disc that they put out. I was down with the totally over-generic cover art. If you bought the CD it was printed as Compact Disc... If you bought the Cassette it was labeled Cassette. Damn.... I really do not even like PIL... But at this very moment I feel like their biggest freakin' fan... Just cause I can not have what I want. Grrrrrr. Back in the day.. I would read a zine or hear something on KDHX or get the word from a friend or the heroic counter dude... Would be so jazzed up to hop in the Lancer... hit West End Wax, Vintage, Record Exchange.. Purchase... Then back to the ride and pop in the Cassette or CD and play the damn thing - not just the car ride home - but the entire next week. I was always guilty of the overplay. I think part of the jack-up was the build-up to get the finally hear the tunes... Finally own the music.. To have it.... To listen to what I wanted to listen to for so long.. .and now that I had it... I was going to take full advantage of it. Hence overplay. But here is the deal.. I do not get that rush anymore. That music orgasm is kind of ... Gone. I get everything at the click of a button... Instant gratification... ... Well that is till today at 7:35AM on September 9, 2009. Damn PIL. So be it. I'll just play something else.
